Inverurie Garden Machinery is a family-owned business in the aspiring town of Inverurie in the heart of Aberdeenshire. Established circa 1973 by Duncan Forbes, the garden centre was an old railway shed, which historically was used to store goods for Meldrum Meg, the name given to the train which used to run from Inverurie to Oldmeldrum.

Initially used as a builder’s yard, sales of compost, mowers and chainsaws followed until in 1993, when the current owners the Milne family, purchased the business. In 2002, building works began on the spare land next to the old railway shed, which was situated at the roadside where the polytunnel is at present.

The shed was demolished, and the car park and outdoor plants area were developed. In March 2003, the new Inverurie Garden Centre and Machinery site was officially opened. Since then, Inverurie Garden Machinery has developed into a thriving business, selling the leading brands in the sector.
